Aion 2 beginner guide: How It Fits into Aion 2 Progression
Starting a new MMORPG feels a lot like arriving in an unfamiliar country without a map. This guide treats the first weeks of Aion 2 as a route with clear stages, so you know where each beginner decision leads and which details to verify in the game itself.
Know the terrain: what Aion 2 is right now
Aion 2 is NCSOFT's Unreal Engine 5 MMORPG. It launched in South Korea and Taiwan in November 2025, and the global version followed on 5 October 2026 on PC through Steam and NCSOFT's PURPLE launcher, after early access opened on 30 September. It is free-to-play, so the cost of trying it is mostly your time.
Because the global launch is so recent, the landscape is still shifting. Balance changes, new content and system adjustments arrive through patches, and advice written a few weeks ago can already be out of date. Treat any guide, including this one, as a sketch of the roads rather than a fixed timetable.
It also helps to decide early what kind of traveler you are. Some players want a quick tour of the main sights, others want to settle in for months with a guild. Knowing your answer makes the next choices much easier, because it tells you how much time to invest in each stage and which routes you can safely skip for now.
Stage one: choosing your starting point
Three decisions shape your trip before you take a single step: server region, faction and class.
- Server region. Global servers cover North America, South America, Europe and Asia (Japan). Pick the one closest to you or to the friends you plan to play with; latency and shared play hours matter more than anything else here.
- Faction. You join either the Elyos or the Asmodians, with the Balaur also present in the world. Faction decides who your allies are and who you meet on the other side in faction-based PvP, so coordinate with friends before creating characters.
- Class. Eight classes are available at launch. Rather than chasing rankings, choose a role you enjoy, such as dealing damage, protecting a group or supporting others, and read the in-game class descriptions carefully.
Several voice and text languages are supported, including English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese and Korean, so check the settings menu if you prefer another language.
Stage two: learning to move and fight
The first real skill in Aion 2 is movement. Flight is part of combat, not just a way to travel between places, which means your position in the air affects how fights go. Combat itself mixes tab-targeting with positioning: you select targets, but where you stand still matters.
A sensible early habit is to practise both together while the stakes are low:
- use easy encounters to test how flight changes your angles of attack
- learn which of your skills need you to stay still and which work while moving
- watch enemy positioning, not only health bars
- adjust keybinds early, before muscle memory sets in
Stage three: where the roads branch
Once you are comfortable, progression splits into several roads that run side by side. On the PvE side there are solo dungeons, group dungeons and larger raids. On the PvP side there are arenas, cross-server realm-vs-realm battles and the return of the faction-based Abyss.
You do not need to travel every road at once. Many beginners do better by choosing one main route, for example steady solo and group PvE, and visiting PvP once they understand their class. Others prefer to join a guild early so that group content is easier to organize.
Using outside guides as a second map
Community and third-party guides can help fill gaps the tutorial leaves. A leveling walkthrough such as the one at https://aion2boost.com/guides/leveling/beginner-guide/ is useful as a comparison point: read it next to the in-game quest log, and note where its advice matches what you see in your own client version.
Keep one boundary in mind. Some sites that publish guides also offer boosting or account services. Boosting, account sharing and real-money trading can violate a game's terms of service and can lead to penalties. Before using any service, check whether it needs your login, whether it describes systems that actually exist in the current patch and whether NCSOFT's terms allow it.
A beginner's packing list
Before you set off on the longer stretches of the game, make sure you have the essentials:
- a server region and faction agreed with your friends
- a class you enjoy playing, not just one that looks strong this week
- basic comfort with flight during combat
- a habit of reading patch notes after each update
- the strongest security options your Steam or PURPLE account offers, switched on
With those in place, the rest of Aion 2 progression becomes a matter of choosing which road to explore next and checking the signposts as the game changes.
